What he wants most is to impress his father Zeus (RIP TORN). When Hercules discovers Hades\u2019 (JAMES WOODS) sinister plot to take over Mount Olympus, he goes from zero to hero and, with the help of his pals Pegasus and Phil (DANNY DEVITO), discovers that real strength comes from the heart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 1.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This review comes with a glossy, slightly embossed <strong>slip cover<\/strong>. Inside contains a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>DVD Copy<\/strong><\/span> and a redemption code for the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Digital Copy<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>The Making of <em>Hercules<\/em> (9:29)<\/strong><\/span> is an (older) EPK-like featurette made more to advertise the movie than provide any in-depth BTS information.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Music Video (4:47)<\/strong><\/span> for the song \u201cNo Importa La Distancia\u201d by Ricky Martin<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u201cZero to Hero\u201d Sing-Along (2:47)<\/strong><\/span> where you can sing with the film\u2019s catchiest song<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 4.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Hercules<\/em><\/strong> arrives on Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen transfer and a new 1080p high-definition transfer (MPEG-AVC codec). The transfer here, like <em>Tarzan<\/em>, might not be the object of perfection but it\u2019s still solid enough. There are some instances of aliasing, perhaps a result of when the movie was made, but colors are especially bright, contrast seems well balanced and dark levels are stark and show no major flaws like artifacting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track meanwhile sound fantastic providing clear dialogue levels that mostly comes from the center channel while the front and rear speakers are mostly used for ambient noises or for the musical numbers. The track offers decent depth and I didn\u2019t notice any hissing or other distortions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, <strong><em>Hercules<\/em><\/strong> was never one of my favorite Disney animated movies of the 1990s, falling far short of the likes of <em>Beauty and the Beast<\/em> and <em>The Little Mermaid<\/em> (and even in some aspects, <em>Tarzan<\/em>), but it\u2019s still a decent enough film that the whole family can enjoy with some fine music sequences.
