As his pal\u2019s \u201cfront\u201d-representing the scribe\u2019s work as his own and collecting ten percent of the profits \u2014 the apolitical schlemiel is soon enjoying not just the money but the perks, including the love of a sophisticated young producer (ANDREA MARCOVICCI). But in an atmosphere of fear, nobody\u2019s above suspicion, and Howard\u2019s growing friendship with another unfairly accused blacklistee (ZERO MOSTEL) brings down the wrath of HUAC \u2014 and a confrontation with his own burgeoning conscience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 1.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>TThe only features included are an <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Audio Commentary<\/strong><\/span> with Actress Andrea Marcovicci and Film Historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Theatrical Trailer (1:53; HD)<\/strong><\/span>. The commentary is pretty informative if not low key.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Twilight Time releases <strong><em>The Front<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray with a 1080p\/AVC high-definition transfer and in its original 1.85 widescreen transfer. The picture has some sharp detail levels and colors are bright and have a nice pop to it albeit it\u2019s a tad drab in places. There are no major signs of artifacting, pixilation or dust specs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track offered up is effective enough yet since it\u2019s all relegated to the center channel, there\u2019s not much depth to it. However, considering this mostly dialogue driven, it is crisp and clear with the music and score coming through well enough.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 3.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, <strong><em>The Front<\/em><\/strong> is a welcoming drama seeing Woody Allen playing it mostly straight and sans his quirky persona he\u2019s relied on over the years, albeit most of the time with success.
