Then, suddenly, opportunity rocks: Chris is tapped to become Steel Dragon\u2019s new lead singer. Just like that, he goes from small-town nobody to megastar. And just like that, he and his manager\/girlfriend Emily (JENNIFER ANISTON) enter a world crazier than either imagined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 1.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Audio Commentary<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Director Stephen Herek offers a free-flowing and somewhat interesting track providing some behind-the-scenes information on the actors, filming certain scenes and locations.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><em>Rock Star<\/em><\/strong><strong>: A Backstage Look at a Legend (4:04; SD)<\/strong><\/span> is an EPK-like featurette that only offers the very basic info with behind-the-scenes footage.<\/p>\n<p>Also includes a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Music Video (3:45; SD)<\/strong><\/span> by Everclear and the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Theatrical Trailer (2:24; SD)<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 3.75\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Rock Star<\/em><\/strong> takes stage on Blu-ray presented in its original 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio and a decent 1080p high-definition transfer. The video might not look fantastic where detail levels on distant objects and people isn\u2019t the best, but close-ups aren\u2019t bad and the colors appear to be vibrant enough. Darker scenes show no major signs of pixilation and\/or compression. The big downside is the noise is apparent and makes some scenes appear to be semi-splotchy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track gets full usage thanks to the numerous concert and music scenes, providing nice depth and clarity while dialogue levels sound crisp and clear coming from the center channel. It might not be reference quality, but it\u2019s certainly a good lossless track that fans of the movie will appreciate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 2.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, in <strong><em>Rock Star<\/em><\/strong>, I can respect Mark Wahlberg\u2019s performance, and some of those in the supporting cast like Timothy Olymphant and Jason Flemyng, but it\u2019s a clich\u00e9d drama that never quite hit the, ahem, right high notes to make for an engaging drama.
