Plot Outline (from the back cover): <\/strong>Based on a play by Arthur Laurents, Home of the Brave<\/em><\/strong> recounts the story of a young black soldier (JAMES EDWARDS) who has suffered a nervous breakdown and developed psychosomatic paralysis. Crippled by rage and trauma, his condition was induced by experiences encountered during a reconnaissance mission combined with a lifetime of racial discrimination. He may be able to walk again, but only if he can overcome his anger and frustrations.<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s theme revolves around a diverse group of men subjected to the horror of war and their individual struggles. Directed by Mark Robson, Home of the Brave<\/em><\/strong> was one of Hollywood\u2019s first bold statements regarding the issue of race.<\/p>\n

Olive Films releases Home of the Brave<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray presented with a 1080p high-definition transfer and in its original 1.33 full frame production. The picture, for something 60+ years old, isn\u2019t bad though it\u2019s apparent this merely went through basic processing as there are numerous instances of minor scratches and\/or dust marks to go along with some flickering issues from time to time. Still, details aren\u2019t bad and save for the minor flaws, it\u2019s a decent transfer.<\/p>\n

AUDIO \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The movie comes with a DTS-HD MA Mono track which serves up the dialogue levels quite nicely to go along with the occasional ambient noises while the men hide from the Japanese. The track isn\u2019t anything extraordinary but satisfying enough and certainly an upgrade for any other incarnations of this film.<\/p>\n
