They also share Billy Flynn (RICHARD GERE), the town\u2019s slickest lawyer with a talent for turning notorious defendants into local legends. But in Chicago, there\u2019s only room for one legend!<\/p>\n<p><b>Quick Hit Review: <\/b>I originally saw <b><i>Chicago<\/i><\/b> in the theaters in early 2003 when it finally hit my local Cineplex and was absolutely floored after the first viewing, amazed again when it was released on DVD. Now 10+ years later, it still holds so much charm and overall entertainment, with catchy songs and extraordinary performances from Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones (who took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress) and Richard Gere that it combines the musicals of old Hollywood with the style of the new.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/images4.imagebam.com\/e0\/29\/c2\/ME60DGC_o.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 3px solid blue;\" title=\"Chicago\" src=\"https:\/\/images4.imagebam.com\/e0\/29\/c2\/ME60DGC_o.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I know some today criticize it as being overrated and not deserving of Best Picture, but for me, I loved every minute of this and highly recommend this for those who have yet to see just an all around amazing musical comedy-drama that some have tried to recreate with <i>Les Miserable<\/i> and <i>Nine<\/i> (also helmed by Rob Marshall) but without the same success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 4.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This release comes with a semi-glossy, reflective and title embossed <b>slip cover<\/b>. Inside contains the original <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DVD Copy<\/span><\/b> which has features not on the Blu-ray disc and the download code for the <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UltraViolet Digital Copy<\/span><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Feature Commentary<\/span><\/b> \u2013 Director Rob Marshall and Screenwriter Bill Condon sit down for a track chatting about the film, challenges and casting.<\/p>\n<p><b><i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chicago<\/span><\/i><\/b><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> in the Spotlight: A Retrospective with and Cast and Crew (2:22:19; HD)<\/span><\/b> \u2013 There are 14 featurettes contained under this heading and features new interviews with members of the cast and crew including Director Rob Marshall, various producers and Actors Ren\u00e9e Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, Queen Latifah, John C. Reilly and Christine Baranski. The original Blu-ray was released by Buena Vista but since I don\u2019t own that version, I can\u2019t make a direct comparison, but for my money, this is a fantastic looking transfer with bright colors and some natural film grain that adds to the theatrical-like quality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 5.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Also getting an upgrade over the 2007 release \u2013 which only had a 5.1 Uncompressed (48khz\/24-bit) track \u2013 this new release comes with a 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD lossless track which sounds absolutely incredible with clear dialogue levels but most importantly, the musical numbers that evenly engulfs the room and replicates the theater experience as closely as possible.
