But the story is sweet and the voice acting is well done. Unlike some other cartoons, like <i>Mickey\u2019s Christmas Carol<\/i>, this one is aimed toward little tikes, although I\u2019m sure those older, with a hankering for nostalgia, might get something out of it; for me this was a one and done viewing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 1.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This release comes with a nice embossed <b>slip cover<\/b>. Inside there\u2019s a standard <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">DVD Copy<\/span><\/b> and a download code for the <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Digital Copy<\/span><\/b>. Also included is a postcard set and envelopes addressed to the Santa Clause. Features-wise, there\u2019s very little except for a <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sing-Along<\/span><\/b> with the movie, <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Disney\u2019s Song Selection<\/span><\/b> and <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Enchanted Environment<\/span><\/b> which is just a view of Pooh\u2019s living room with sound effects and\/or Christmas carols.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 2.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b><i>A Very Merry Pooh Year<\/i><\/b> is presented with a 1.33 full frame aspect ratio and supposedly newly remastered. However, this transfer is pretty bland with soft colors though this was an animated movie that never looked very good and the animation itself was pretty basic. I suspect DNR was used as the transfer looks fairly clean but unlike <i>Mickey\u2019s Christmas Carol.<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 2.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The movie received only a basic Dolby Digital 2.0 track which is serviceable but nothing special. Dialogue levels are relatively clear but other parts are pretty weak and flat. For its target audience, meaning young kids, it\u2019s an OK track but it is cheap on Disney\u2019s part not to upgrade to lossless.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 2.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, <b><i>Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Year<\/i><\/b> is a fun animated movie aimed for little tikes but the animation is pretty basic and this new Blu-ray released by Disney is really weak. While the back cover describes this as a \u201cnewly remastered\u201d transfer, this is nothing more than an upconversion and with a basic 2.0 Dolby Digital track and a weak set of \u201cfeatures\u201d; it\u2019s also an expensive release.
