The group commentary is far more interesting delving into the different on-set stories (such as zombie hands grabbing Cardille\u2019s breasts) while Avary\u2019s track is more elemental and goes into more external nuances.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">World\u2019s End: The Legacy of <i>Day of the Dead<\/i> (1:25:26; HD)<\/span><\/b> \u2013 This new feature length documentary, produced by Shout Factory, covers the history of the <i>Dead<\/i> series and has new interviews with various members of the cast and crew recounting shooting the movie, working with one another and delves into the deeper aspects of the story.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Behind the Scenes Footage (30:42; SD)<\/span><\/b> are some video from Tom Savini\u2019s archives. It\u2019s just random shots culled together yet still quite interesting to get a fly on the wall perspective without the interjection of canned sound bites.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wampum Mine Promotional Video (8:12; SD)<\/span><\/b> is an archival video of the real underground mines used in the film and expanded more in the next featurette.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Underground: A Look into the <i>Day of the Dead<\/i> Mines (7:37; HD)<\/span><\/b> is a tour of the mines today and also features some more crew interviews.<\/p>\n<p>Last up are some <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Theatrical Trailers (5:55; HD)<\/span><\/b>, <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TV Spots (1:35; HD)<\/span><\/b> and <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Still Galleries<\/span><\/b> for \u201cBehind the Scenes\u201d, \u201cLocations\u201d, \u201cPosters and Lobby Cards\u201d and \u201cMiscellaneous\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 4.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Shout Factory continues its success in releasing classic horror with <b><i>Day of the Dead<\/i><\/b> presented in its original 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and an impressive 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture here looks simply incredible. Now, I don\u2019t own the original Blu-ray release, which from reading online, didn\u2019t have the most impressive reviews, so it\u2019s welcoming news that the Shout release received a new transfer. Colors look well balanced and the detail levels are excellent showing each little aspect especially for close-ups while background objects aren\u2019t quite as clear, though it still looks pretty good.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The disc includes a serviceable DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which features crisp and clear dialogue, or zombie moaning, while some of the more subtle moments such as carnage, is on displayed well enough. This isn\u2019t going to be a reference lossless track but given the low budget nature as well as the film\u2019s age, this is more than acceptable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, this <b><i>Day of the Dead<\/i><\/b> \u201cCollector\u2019s Edition\u201d has it all between impressive audio\/video transfers to a good selection of features that is satisfying to any fan of the series.
