Plot Outline: <\/strong>When a massive comet strikes the Sun, it knocks Mercury out of orbit and sends it hurtling towards Earth. But each day the now-magnetized planet gets closer, it triggers gravitational chaos around the world: Flaming meteors crash into the ground, automobiles are sucked into the sky, and the worst is still to come. Can a disgraced scientist (KIRK ACEVEDO) and the lone surviving crew member (DIANE FARR) and his wife, by strange coincidence, on a crippled space shuttle stop this Extinction Level Event by re-activating the top-secret planetary defense system known as \u2018Project 7\u2019? With the help of a couple whiz kids, boy I sure hope so!<\/p>\n

In a bit of a shocker, the 1080p high-definition transfer provided by Anchor Bay, actually looks impressive. The black levels for starters seem to be sharp and never show much in the way of artifacting, colors look well balanced and not oversaturated and the detail levels on the whole is clean with some noise which only adds to the film-like detail. It doesn\u2019t look like DNR or edge enhancement was used making for a good video transfer.

AUDIO \u2013 3.75\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track sounds decent enough. Dialogue, coming primarily from the center channel, sounds clear but when we get into any action scenes, the soundtrack does get a bit muffled and at times tops out. Still, it\u2019s an adequate lossless track.<\/p>\n

Overall, Collision Earth<\/em><\/strong> is the typical SyFy Original Movie with bad CGI, poor or stilted acting, one-dimensional characters with zero personality and a plot taken from some fan fiction. Although the movie may not be any good, surprisingly the audio and video transfers are notable so the disc has that going for it.<\/p>\n
