One woman (JULIANNE MOORE) feigns the illness to share an uncertain fate in quarantine, where society is breaking down as fast as the crumbling surroundings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quick Hit Review: <em>Blindness<\/em><\/strong> is a film filled with great performances, especially from venerable actors Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo, and the story is quite interesting but at the same time it\u2019s an ordeal to get through with drab and bleak settings to go along with a depressing plot which is both engaging and draining at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Director Fernando Meirelles, along with his director of photographer Cesar Charlone, at least make a brilliant looking picture which rivals that of their most known collaboration, <em>City of God<\/em>. <strong><em>Blindness<\/em><\/strong> might not have been my cup of tea but I can still appreciate it for the visuals and the acting.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"features\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A Vision of <em>Blindness<\/em> (55:32; SD)<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 This extensive and informative featurette covers the aspects of the making of the movie with behind-the-scenes footage, cast\/crew interviews, and so forth. It\u2019s actually a pretty impressive and interesting featurette that puts all of the EPK \u2018making-of\u2019 features to shame&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Seeing Eye (36:07; SD)<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Much like the previous feature, this too provides much of the same behind-the-scenes shots but is more nuanced on the actual on-location shooting whereas the other was a bit more internal on the story.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Extra Scenes (6:24; SD)<\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Included are scenes that, for various reasons, didn\u2019t make the final cut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Blindness<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio (misprinted on the back as 1.78). The MPEG-4 AVC codec and 1080p transfer looks pretty good although I did notice the occasional dust marks. However, the level of detail was nice, black levels, when there was any since most a fair amount of the film is washed out, was also good. I won\u2019t say it\u2019s an amazing transfer but it\u2019s probably a modest upgrade over the DVD version.<br \/>\n<a name=\"audio\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It should be noted that most, if not all, of Echo Bridge\u2019s Blu-ray releases are mislabeled on the back. This was the case here where it said the audio was \u201cEnglish 5.1 DTS\u201d and \u201cEnglish &amp; Spanish 2.0\u201d when in fact all three language tracks are lossless DTS-HD MA. The track here sounds, for the most part, great with clear dialogue and whenever the movie picks up pace, some well defined audio coming from the front and rear channels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><br \/>\n<a name=\"overall\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 3.75\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, <strong><em>Blindness<\/em><\/strong> might not have been my kind of movie but I appreciate it for the fine performances, excellent cinematography and a story which is at least captured my attention for the film\u2019s duration. The Blu-ray itself has two fantastic featurettes which will give insight into almost every aspect of the film.
