Sergeant Johnny Gallagher (GENE HACKMAN) thinks he\u2019s been given a routine assignment: to escort a rebellious American soldier (TOMMY LEE JONES) from Europe to the U.S. for a military court martial. Gallagher soon learns, however, that the assignment is anything but routine, when he uncovers a terrifying military conspiracy. Features aren\u2019t exactly plentiful but there is an Audio Commentary<\/u><\/strong> with Director Andrew Davis and Actress Joanna Cassidy; an Interview<\/u><\/strong> with Cassidy; an optional Intro<\/u><\/strong> by Davis and lastly Theatrical Trailer<\/u><\/strong> and TV Spots<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Kino Lorber releases The Package<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray and is presented in the original theatrical 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. Considering there\u2019s no mention of any restoration work, the transfer was likely given by MGM as is. Even so, the picture here, while not amazing, is above average and pretty much on par with movies released in the 1980s. Colors are well balanced and not overly amplified and outside of a few specs, fairly clean with the natural grain still intact.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track is more than adequate for a movie that features more thrills than action. Dialogue comes across with good clarity and there is fine depth for those action scenes while James Newton Howard\u2019s score has a nice smoothness to it, albeit does also have the hallmarks of a 1980s score.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
