Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Charming thief Edgin (CHRIS PINE) and a band of unlikely adventurers \u2014 Holga (MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ), Simon (JUSTICE SMITH) and Doric (SOPHIA LILLIS) \u2014 embark on an epic quest to retrieve a long lost relic, but their charming adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>The popular strategy game \u201cDungeons and Dragons\u201d gets another stab at a feature film following the disastrous 2000 version which is only worth watching for Jeremy Irons\u2019s over-the-top performance and very little else. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves<\/em><\/strong> is a fun fantasy-adventure film that has a decent enough of a plot and Chris Pine once again shows off his charms while Hugh Grant makes for a fun villain.<\/p>\n

Under the direction of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the dynamic duo behind the highly entertaining and hilarious Game Night<\/em>, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves<\/em><\/strong> is certainly a giant step up from the atrocious 2000 version, of course that\u2019s a very low bar. Having never played, I can\u2019t say how well this adheres to the game but as a film, it\u2019s fine disposable entertainment.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This release comes with a glossy slip cover<\/strong> and as with many of the recent Paramount releases, this only has the 4K Ultra HD disc.<\/p>\n

From Dice to Dragons: Honoring the Lore (11:15)<\/u><\/strong> featurette that goes into how the filmmakers incorporated elements of the game.<\/p>\n

Rogues\u2019 Gallery: The Heroes of Dungeons & Dragons<\/em> (11:24)<\/u><\/strong> profiles this ensemble cast and includes interviews with Pine, Rodriguez, etc.<\/p>\n

Fantastic Foes (7:03)<\/u><\/strong> \u2014 Gives a look at the villains, played by Daisy Head and Hugh Grant.<\/p>\n

The Bestiary (9:21)<\/u><\/strong> \u2014This featurette breaks down the creatures from the movie.<\/p>\n

Forging the Forgotten Realms (8:07)<\/u><\/strong> is a featurette examining different realms featured.<\/p>\n

Broadswords, Battleaxes & Badass Brawls (8:40)<\/u><\/strong> is on the weapons, how they were created, and breaking down the stuntwork.<\/p>\n

Last up is a Gag Reel (6:51)<\/u><\/strong> and Deleted\/Extended Scenes (10:35)<\/u><\/strong>, mostly extended.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Paramount releases Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves<\/em><\/strong> onto 4K Ultra HD and is presented in the original 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and a 2160p high-definition transfer. While not the best looking 4K however still looks quite good, detail is relatively sharp while colors are well balanced though keeping more toward natural tones.<\/p>\n

The movie comes with a robust Dolby Atmos track which really comes to life during the numerous action sequences while the few quieter, more dialogue-driven, scenes still offer some good depth for ambient noises. I don\u2019t consider this a lossless track that will give your surround system a workout but still impressive nonetheless.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
