Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Eddie Jillette (RICHARD GERE) is a tough, uncompromising cop whose vow to avenge his partner\u2019s death draws him into a torrid affair with the only witness, the murderer\u2019s girlfriend, Michel Duval (KIM BASINGER), a Cajun beauty caught in the war between Eddie and vicious crime lord, Losado (JEROEN KRABBE), the man who possesses her.<\/p>\n

Jillette\u2019s vendetta takes him from the streets of Chicago to the violent underworld of New Orleans, where he abducts Michel to flush out Lasado. He escapes into the treacherous bayou with his unwilling captive, but as their pursuers close in and the danger mounts, so does their lust for each other.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>I had recently, within the last 1.5 years anyway, watched No Mercy<\/em><\/strong> in my quest of finding some fun romantic-thrillers from the 1980s. My opinion then, as it is now: this isn\u2019t a particularly memorable or amazing movie. The performances from both Richard Gere and Kim Basinger were both fine, however didn\u2019t feel they had the chemistry necessary to make the film work, mostly the second half once they \u201cpair up\u201d (i.e. he kidnaps her). Gere and Basinger, however, will reunite in 1992 for Final Analysis<\/em>.<\/p>\n

That said, some of the action\/thriller scenes weren\u2019t too bad, most notably the shootout\/fire sequence in the third act, and Jeroen Krabb\u00e9 as the villain was a bit too over-the-top compared with Gere\u2019s more serious take; I\u2019d wonder if this had starred either Stallone or Van Damm, might\u2019ve been just the right mixture of cheese, action and drama.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This release comes with a matted slip cover<\/strong>. Unlike the Mill Creek version, this does come with a new Interview (11:21)<\/u><\/strong> with Actor Jereon Krabbe as well as the Theatrical Trailer (2:13).<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

No Mercy<\/em><\/strong> makes now its second appearance on Blu-ray following the 2020 release by Mill Creek and given there is no mention on the back about this 1080p high-definition transfer, I assume it\u2019s the same one by MC which was itself just provided by Columbia with no restoration done. In any case, the 1.78 widescreen transfer does look fairly good with fine detail and colors appearing well balanced.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track. This is a rather low key lossless track where some of the ambient noises or on-screen action is a bit soft however dialogue does come through with nice clarity and no evident pops, hisses or other ailments. This was copied from my 2020 review and pretty much remains the same, nothing incredible but certainly adequate.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
