Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Based on the humorous writings of author Jean Shepherd, this holiday movie follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker (PETER BILLINGSLEY), who spends most of his time dodging a bully (ZACK WARD) and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle.” Frequently at odds with his cranky dad (DARREN MCGAVIN) but comforted by his doting mother (MELINDA DILLON), Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>Truth be told, A Christmas Story<\/em><\/strong> has never been on my must-watch list come Christmas time (compared that to Christmas Vacation<\/em>), still the movie has its charms for sure and illicit some chuckles from me and has iconic scenes and one specific prop, a leg lamp that I\u2019m sure still sells well. All in all its good, wholesome family fun.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      A Christmas Story<\/em><\/strong> comes to the 4K Ultra HD format where it\u2019s presented in the original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 2160p high-definition transfer. I\u2019m going to assume this was taken from the Warner Bros. vault somewhere though not sure any restoration work was done, and if not, apparently it didn\u2019t need it. Detail on the picture is sharp and very well defined throughout and colors appear nicely balanced and in keeping with the whimsical 1950s setting.<\/p>\n

      The movie includes a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track and thinking this is a similar one to the released on previous Blu-rays. Still, dialogue comes across with good clarity and even with it being a singular track, there is fine depth.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
