THE MOVIE \u2014 2\u00bc\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>IT expert Friar (KEVIN DILLON) finds a hair-trigger bomb strapped to his desk chair. An unseen hacker orders him to steal digital funds online \u2014 or have his daughter abducted. As a fearless bomb expert (MEL GIBSON) arrives on the scene, the hacker frames Friar as the bomber. The tension mounts as Friar races to clear his name and expose the real terrorist \u2014 without getting himself blown to smithereens.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>I find movies like Hot Seat<\/em><\/strong> to be fascinating as they tend to have half-baked scripts and terrible dialogue yet manage to rope in veteran talent, here including Mel Gibson and yes, even Kevin Dillon. This is a movie with a simple plot and at least had the hallmarks of a quick and breezy entertainment that one would forget a day later. Instead we get something very predictable and dialogue that I assume Gibson and Dillon probably were embarrassed to utter.<\/p>\n

Hot Seat<\/em><\/strong>, which was filmed in New Mexico, a state which is seeing quite a few productions of late (that includes the infamous Rust<\/em>), was directed by James Cullen Bressack, the filmmaker behind Survive the Game<\/em> and Fortress<\/em> (both co-starring Bruce Willis), so this is just yet another plug-and-play production with Mel Gibson probably raking in a million or two for a day\u2019s work and honestly not really making much of an impression.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Hot Seat<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray with a 1080p high-definition transfer and 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio. For the most part the video here looks fine, like most of these direct-to-video movies. The majority does take place in an office setting before moving to the roof for the finale, so you\u2019re really not getting a whole lot of depth or even bright colors though there are flashes here and there during our main character doing his movie \u201chacking.\u201d<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The movie comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which was generally serviceable but not much else. Dialogue comes across well enough though and at least there was some modest depth with the very few suspense or action scenes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
