THE MOVIE \u2014 2\u00be\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>When an assassination attempt is witnessed by two cops (OLGA KURYLENKO, MICHAEL ROSE), Gabriel Tancredi, an ex-marine turned mob enforcer (MICHAEL ROOKER), is ordered by his ruthless mob boss (BRUCE WILLIS) to eliminate any and all threats. With an eager underling (VADHIR DERBEZ) out to prove himself, rival gangs making moves and a rising body count, every step Tancredi makes threatens lives… including his own.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: White Elephant<\/em><\/strong> is a direct-to-video crime-drama that is by no means great or even good, yet had a relative amount of ambition and at the very least featured a committed performance from Michael Rooker, though the rest of the cast pretty much phoned it in, including another, and I say this with all due respect given his condition, lifeless acting from Bruce Willis, although in this one he still looked cool firing off a machine gun. The others, including John Malkovich who himself has become a staple in the DTV world, only has 5-minutes of screen time. And for her part, Olga Kurylenko was fine given she\u2019s straddled with some awful dialogue.<\/p>\n

The film was co-scripted and directed by Jesse V. Johnson, a longtime stuntman (War of the Worlds<\/em>, The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2<\/em>) who also helmed several other direct-to-video flicks. Seems like Johnson is the go-to guy and I guess he\u2019s does an okay job with the direction here, though his script writing isn\u2019t the best.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

RLJE Films releases White Elephant<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray and is presented with a 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part, the picture does look fine, detail was decently sharp and colors well balanced as were black levels.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The movie comes with a soft DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track which provides clear dialogue levels while the action sequences weren\u2019t exactly robust nor especially all-encompassing with very little depth and the LFE channel barely kicked on.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
