Expecting a weekend of luxurious self-indulgence, visitors at the ritzy Lakewood Manor soon discover they\u2019re the entr\u00e9e of the day for an army of malevolent ants with an appetite for human flesh. When these killer creepy-crawlies eat toxic insecticides, they don\u2019t die\u2014they just get meaner.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/images4.imagebam.com\/8f\/06\/e8\/MEBMURD_o.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Ants\" src=\"https:\/\/images4.imagebam.com\/8f\/06\/e8\/MEBMURD_o.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Quick Hit Review: <em>Ants<\/em><\/strong> is thankfully the third and last of these creature-attack horror-thrillers I\u2019ve watch in the past few days (the others were <em>Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo<\/em> and <em>Terror Out of the Sky<\/em>) and this one is pretty much in-line with those where you get an ensemble cast, this one especially felt close to a 1970s disaster film as well, who battle some invasion and they must figure out a way from the insects from spreading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is another made-for-television movie that aired back in 1977 on ABC and while not great, did have a few suspense-filled moments and fun to see the likes of Brian Dennehy fairly early in his career (and looking on IMDb, one of a dozen movies and shows he appeared in \u201977). It\u2019s basically up to personal preferences as the widescreen option does cut off the top and bottom but the sides are expanded versus the full frame which is open framed but sides not showing as much of the frame. I decided to watch with the widescreen version which looked rather good; detail was decent enough while colors weren\u2019t especially vibrant. There were a couple very minor specs here and there but for the most part this was a clean transfer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 3\u00be\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td id=\"review-content2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The disc comes with a standard DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which, and I\u2019m going out on a limb here, probably sounded far better than the stereo (or mono) sound from televisions back in the 70s.
