Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Gloria Hendry is the Colonel, lean, mean and foxy, with plenty of ammunition stocked in just the right places. Cheri Caffaro is the Field Marshall, who took command of the Liberation Army to save her men. Rosanna Ortiz is the Brigadier General, top mama of a female commando unit. They\u2019re trouble multiplied by three \u2014 and they\u2019ve got plans for a spectacular jailbreak, a million-dollar robbery and an island revolution.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: Savage Sisters<\/em><\/strong> is a female led action film from the mid-70s, filmed in the Philippines where many low budget features were filmed. Based on the cover artwork I thought this would be a blast and all around fun experience and while there are elements of entertainment and cheese, the bulk was pretty lackluster, though the acting from the leading ladies were at least passable, with Gloria Hendry easily being the best of the trio. Also stealing the show are Sid Haig and John Ashley, the former especially who seemed to having an absolute blast in every scene he\u2019s in.<\/p>\n

The direction from Filipino-born Eddie Romero (director of the fun women-in-prison film Black Mama, White Mama<\/em>) was competent if not un-extraordinary with some okay action sequences while the plot is simple yet meanders coming into full gear in the last 20-30 minutes and there\u2019s not enough time setting up the dynamics between the three leads, or even any great conflict.<\/p>\n

But on the whole, and even with the duller moments and off-pacing, Savage Sisters<\/em><\/strong> does have its moments and those interested in 1970s action films, shot in the Philippines, this might be worth checking out.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This release comes with a matted slip cover<\/strong> (which I wish was in poster form) and the inside cover is reversible with the film\u2019s original poster artwork. Unfortunately not a significant amount of features but there is an Audio Commentary<\/u><\/strong> with Horror-Fiz.com\u2019s James G. Chandler and Ash Hamilton which was pretty friendly, a bit of joking but still offering some information on the production, actors and the director.<\/p>\n

Also included is the film\u2019s Theatrical Trailer (2:24)<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Kino Lorber unleashes Savage Sisters<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray where it\u2019s presented in the original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer culled from a new 2K master. For the most part this is a good looking picture with sharp detail especially on close-ups. The transfer is fairly clean however I did notice many instances of some film damage along with minor specs. That said colors are pretty vibrant and compared with how the film looked via Amazon Prime, it is a considerable improvement.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The included DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track and other than some white noise and hissing in some scenes, the rest does sound quite good, dialogue comes across with good clarity and depth is decent enough as well.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This Blu-ray release from Kino Lorber has good video and audio transfers with an audio commentary and trailer.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
