When a young actress (JANET GAYNOR) arrives in Hollywood with hopes of stardom, a chance encounter places her under the wing of older actor Norman Maine (FREDRIC MARCH). Adopting the stage name Vicki Lester, she co-stars with Norman in a major motion picture, but his success is clearly fading even as her career begins. After the couple wed, Vicki’s fame continues to grow, but Norman descends into alcoholism, and she must decide between pursuing her dream and caring for him.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

A Star is Born<\/em> (1937)<\/strong> debuts on Blu-ray courtesy of the Warner Bros. Archive Collection where it\u2019s presented with a 1.37 full frame aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer taken from a new 4K scan of the original nitrate Technicolor camera negatives. To no surprise for me, this looks great in high-definition, detail is sharp and the balance between the blacks and whites is well balanced, with the former not appearing crush or the latter too bright.<\/p>\n

The disc includes the usual DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track which offers ups clear dialogue throughout. There weren\u2019t any noticeable hissing or pops making this a well done lossless track, very likely a solid upgrade over any previous DVD release.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
