Rescued from a bottle (and a deserted island) by a U.S. astronaut (LARRY HAGMAN), a scantily clad genie named Jeannie (BARBARA EDEN) becomes his slave and eventually falls in love with him. But unlike most genie stories, there is no three wishes rule – so Jeannie uses her magic all the time, often without talking to her rescuer about it first.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This 12-disc set is split into two HD keep cases (one for seasons 1-2, the other for seasons 3-5) and each side-slide into a slip case. Unfortunately the only bonus is I Dream of Jeannie… 15 Years Later<\/u><\/em> (1:34:13)<\/u><\/strong>, a TV movie from 1985 with Wayne Rogers replacing Larry Hagman in the co-lead role. Otherwise, none of the features were ported over from Sony\u2019s DVD series set.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Series<\/em><\/strong>, after some delay, is released on Blu-ray through Mill Creek Entertainment. While I really appreciate Mill Creek\u2019s bargain prices for titles that likely would never see a high-definition physical media release, I was wildly disappointed with these transfers. I immediately noticed on just about every disc some compression issues, or as some might call it, stair-steps, and jagged edging. This is pretty much noticeable on every season but none more than seasons 3-5 where there are 13 episodes on each disc, where ideally you\u2019d want half that so you get incredibly compression.<\/p>\n

Frankly, I have to wonder if the source provided to Mill Creek was just an upscale standard definition, however even so, this is one that really should not have been released as, based on what I\u2019ve read anyway, this is not much, if any, an improvement over the DVD (at least the one released by Sony).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Each episode comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which more or less is probably on par with a standard Dolby Digital mono track split onto two channels. Nothing great but acceptable enough as dialogue comes across well enough as does the whimsical time-appropriate sitcom score and (not sure if this was filmed in front of a live studio audience).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

I Dream of Jeannie<\/em><\/strong> was well before my time and wasn\u2019t one I watched if\/when it was in syndication back in the day either, but even being a product of its time has some funny moments and Barbara Eden isn\u2019t bad to look at. This Complete Series Blu-ray however has much to be desired with only the TV movie as a bonus and the video was terribly flawed. I would say if it was <$40, maybe<\/em> it would be worth it, but just know the flaws.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
