THE MOVIE \u2014 2\u00bc\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Sgt. Mike Ransom (BRENT HUFF) battles the KGB, rogue CIA agents, an army of ninjas, a tough bar owner (MARY STAVIN) and a plethora amount of explosions and all sorts of insanity.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>This sequel rips off (or maybe pays homage?) to Raiders of the Lost Ark<\/em>, Apocalypse Now<\/em> and even some Romancing the Stone<\/em>. Brent Huff takes on the main role replacing Reb Brown (for some unknown reason) and this one does seem to be purposefully comedic topped off with an annoying and ill-placed score. This is pretty much more of the same, however, there are some fun elements in that good-bad sort of way to go along with a fair share of pyrotechnics alongside the venerable Richard Harris having a small but important role as a general whom Ransom has been sent to rescue.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

As with its predecessor, Strike Commando 2<\/em><\/strong> also received a new 1080p high-definition transfer, taken from a 2K scan of the original film negative. The picture here looks rather brilliant. You do still have some minor film damage, some specs and scratches primarily, but otherwise the detail is sharp, colors are bright and the natural film grain has been retained. It\u2019s highly doubtful this has ever looked better and Severin, or whomever was responsible, did a tremendous job all things considered.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc includes a standard but serviceable PCM 2.0 track. There is a bit of depth during the action-packed scenes, as much as possible for a stereo track anyway, and dialogue comes across with fine clarity throughout.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Strike Commando 2<\/em><\/strong> is a more (on purpose) comedic than the first movie and while it\u2019s still not good per se, I do think there\u2019s enough to make this a fun evening viewing amongst friends to mock and laugh at, MST3K style. The Blu-ray release by Severin offers up excellent video and good audio transfers and although the features are limited, it is better than nothing especially for a film like this.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
