Darren Silverman (JASON BIGGS), Wayne Lefessier (STEVE ZAHN) and J.D. McNugent (JACK BLACK) have been best friends since the fifth grade. Enter Judith (AMANDA PEET), a cold-hearted beauty who digs her claws into a sweet-natured Darren. She snatches him from his friends and even breaks up their Neil Diamond tribute band. J.D. and Wayne try every imaginable scheme to save Darren and their friendship, but fail miserably. When they find out Darren has been brainwashed into marrying Judith, the dim-witted duo decide to kidnap her and reunite Darren with his long-lost love, Sandy (AMANDA DETMER) before she becomes a nun!<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Saving Silverman<\/em><\/strong> debuts on Blu-ray where it\u2019s shown in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. Frankly, this transfer looks like something that would\u2019ve been released in the very early days of the format; in fact it reminds me of Lionsgate\u2019s release of Van Wilder<\/em>. The picture here is heavily compressed, detail is relatively soft throughout and colors are drab. Adding to that, there are some specs and dirt so it\u2019s not even all that clean. I have no idea where Mill Creek got this from, I would assume Sony, but clearly no restoration, even on a basic level, was done.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The movie comes with an adequate but basic DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track. Dialogue comes across well enough but not entirely loud while depth is pretty modest. This lossless track isn\u2019t anything incredible, however as comedies go, it\u2019s serviceable enough as I didn\u2019t detect any significant pops, hisses or other ailments.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This Blu-ray release from Mill Creek unfortunately is barebones with the features but worse the video was woefully inadequate, even by bargain bin releases.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
