Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Louis-Dominique Bourguignon (JEAN-PAUL BELMONDO), alias Cortouche, is an 18th-century rogue master thief and swordsman. But when Cortouche meets the beautiful bandit Venus (CLAUDIA CARDINALE), the pair launch a series of scandalous raids that rock the Parisian aristocracy. Can the most wanted man in France now steal the hearts of rich and poor alike or will he discover that true love may be the most dangerous caper of all?<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: Cartouche<\/em><\/strong> is pretty much a version of Robin Hood if only Maid Marianne was noncommittal and Robin Hood himself a infuriating ass whose decisions, and attraction to another woman, the king\u2019s wife, made no sense. Or perhaps a sign of self destruction with victims caught in the crosshairs. Outside of the main character, who admittedly has his charms, this is still an entertaining swashbuckling-esque tale with fine fight scenes and, as far as I can tell with foreign language films, solid performances.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Although there\u2019s no mention of a new scan, this Blu-ray release from Cartouche<\/em><\/strong> by Kino Lorber looks fantastic. Detail is sharp and very nicely defined throughout for both close-ups and the more distant shots. Colors are nicely balanced and the original film grain and noise has been retained giving this as close to a theatrical experience as possible.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
