Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>This sci-fi adventure is set in the year 2524, four hundred years after humans started colonizing the outer planets. Retired military General James Ford (BRUCE WILLIS) is called back into service after soldiers on a remote planet are attacked by a hostile alien fleet. The threat against the human race escalates into an inevitable interstellar war. General Ford teams up with General Eron Ryle (FRANK GRILLO) and a team of elite soldiers in a race to stop the imminent attack before it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>The plot for Cosmic Sin<\/em><\/strong> seemed to be some rejected script for Battlestar Galactica<\/em> and it appears Bruce Willis, now very accustomed to the world of straight-to-video has dragged Frank Grillo with him, I\u2019m guessing Grillo needed help on the car lease payment or something. In any case, neither really give a committed performance, albeit it\u2019s not like they had much to work with given every character are one-dimensional.<\/p>\n

Beyond the acting, the plot is just as thin as the characters, some loose idea of a battle with aliens, who also get brief appearances and motivations only outlined by a human they infect (like a parasite). It\u2019s a bit difficult to really get into a movie where the threat is pretty vague, only that is reminded me of the Stargate<\/em> movie, including a portal that could usher in hundreds of alien warships (thinking about it, sounds a lot like The Avengers<\/em>).<\/p>\n

If you remove Bruce Willis and Frank Grillo from the cover and this probably would be passed over. And while Cosmic Sin<\/em><\/strong> is bad, I can\u2019t quite rank it as terrible, mostly because I managed to keep watching without writhing in pain, screaming at the screen (alone mind you) and wishing it would end, though does help it only has a 88-minute running time\u2026<\/p>\n

Paramount releases Cosmic Sin<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray where it\u2019s presented with a (as measured) 2.38 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. For the most part the picture looks fine, detail can a bit loose but some close-ups appear to sharp and well defined, while colors, albeit not rich, does have some splashes here and there such as the lights in the soldiers\u2019 mech-suits or the neons outside a bar.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc includes a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track and although the more action-centric scenes, including numerous amount of gunfights, sounded fine, dialogue was a bit uneven. For the most part the dialogue scenes were clear enough but I noticed in many others there was a distinct muffling and slight noise whenever someone was talking; I chalk this up to probably poor sound design but it is noticeable.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
