Fleeing from government assassins, breaking into the CIA\u2019s most impenetrable vault, clinging to the roof of a speeding bullet train, Hunt races like a burning fuse to stay one step ahead of his pursuers&#8230; and draw one step closer to discovering the shocking truth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d.img.vision\/moviemansguide\/mi1-05.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Mission: Impossible\" src=\"https:\/\/d.img.vision\/moviemansguide\/mi1-05.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>It\u2019s amazing to think, but it\u2019s been over 20 years since the first <em>Mission: Impossible<\/em> came to the big screen and it was an amazing theatrical experience and subsequent viewings, it has held up fairly well, save for some of the technology used, of course. Besides that, however, Tom Cruise really encapsulates the role quite well and is able to overcome some of the clunky dialogue and the obvious old visual effects. Still, on my latest viewing, I still had a great time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The supporting cast also performed well. Jon Voight\u2019s Jim Phelps surely angered people at the time given his, spoiler alert, twist as the film\u2019s main villain, a crusty old man bitter at his years of service. This is not your father\u2019s Jim Phelps, that\u2019s for sure. But even as a fan of the show, I didn\u2019t mind the turn. The rest of the ensemble was nicely cast. Jean Reno, in a smaller role, was a badass and Ving Rhames was great and thankfully is back in a larger role for the fifth and sixth movies after a cameo appearance in the fourth movie. And finally Emmanuelle B\u00e9art made for a sympathetic femme fatale.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/d.img.vision\/moviemansguide\/mi1-07.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Mission: Impossible\" src=\"https:\/\/d.img.vision\/moviemansguide\/mi1-07.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It would seem for the first of what would become a long-running franchise Brian De Palma was a great choice to helm. While some of De Palma\u2019s style is still present (close-ups during intense scenes, side-by-side in-focus shots, etc), he doesn\u2019t go overboard and I also appreciate the old school opening title sequence.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 2\u00bd\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td id=\"review-content2\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This release comes with a semi-glossy <strong>slip cover<\/strong> and inside is a redemption code for the <strong>Digital HD<\/strong> copy as well as an IMF car emblem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Mission: Remarkable \u2013 40 Years of Creating the Impossible (11:26)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This featurette covers the history of <em>Mission: Impossible<\/em> taking it from the television series to the big screen. Whatever the case, for those who did not upgrade, this is still a great looking picture.
