Plot Synopsis: With the aid of his girlfriend, Phyllis (GEENA DAVIS), and best friend, Loomis (RANDY QUAID), Grimm (BILL MURRAY) enters a Manhattan bank dressed as a clown, creates a hostage situation and executes a flawless robbery. The only thing left for the trio to do is make their getaway out of the city and to the airport. It sounds simple enough, but it seems that fate deserts them immediately after the bank heist. One mishap after another conspires to keep these robbers from reaching freedom.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: Quick Change<\/em><\/strong> is easily one of my favorite comedies of all time, having seen this movie numerous times over the years, has a bit of a strange feel-good nature to it, even though our main characters motivations are only shown through single dialogue. What makes this so much fun is the oddball, quirkiness to the story, and side characters (Tony Shalhoub was great), as the trio of travelers comes upon one strange incident after another.<\/p>\n

At only 89-minutes long, it\u2019s a, pardon the pun, quick watch but it is just the right length for the plot and no unnecessary character development beyond some lines of dialogue. There\u2019s also just a tad amount of suspension of disbelief, however that has been easy enough to do. The cast with Bill Murray, Geena Davis and Randy Quaid all work well together and Jason Robards as the frustrated, yet still competent, police chief was a lot of fun (glad they didn\u2019t make him some bumbling idiot).<\/p>\n

Quick Change<\/em><\/strong> was directed by Howard Franklin (who also wrote the script based on the novel) and Bill Murray, apparently taking on the duty following Jonathan Demme dropping out and unable to come to an agreement with who would take his place.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Warner Bros. releases Quick Change<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray through their Archive Collection where it\u2019s presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and has been given a new 1080p high-definition transfer. This picture is night and day difference when comparing it to the 2006 DVD. Detail here is very sharp and well defined throughout, colors are bright and warmer, and there were no signs of artifacting, pixilation or any other significant flaws. In addition, black levels are stark but well balanced. This is yet another homerun by Warner Bros. and the Warner Archive program.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which isn\u2019t a significant difference from the DVD\u2019s Dolby Digital 2.0 version, however this one is perhaps a bit more evenly spread out and dynamic; dialogue comes across with clearly and no signs of popping, crackling or any other damage to the lossless track. Given this is a comedy with minimal action, save for some gunfire as Grimm shoots out security cameras, there\u2019s not much depth to examine as the bulk is either with the score or strictly dialogue.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
