Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>It\u2019s senior year! Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>It\u2019s been 8 years since the last Pie<\/em> movie (American Reunion<\/em>) and 11 when the last of these direct-to-video films came out (American Pie Presents: The Book of Love<\/em>), so in these semi-quarantine times, guess now\u2019s a good\u00a0 enough time to resurrect this mostly forgotten franchise with American Pie Presents: Girls\u2019 Rules<\/em><\/strong> which is in the same vein as Rough Night<\/em> and Girls Trip<\/em>, just with teen girls with foul mouths and the obligatory apple pie making a cameo appearance early on.<\/p>\n

I will say up front, at the very least Girls\u2019 Rules<\/em><\/strong> isn\u2019t terrible, it\u2019s probably on par or even a tad better than the others in the \u201cAmerican Pie Presents\u201d line of direct-to-video movies. The main cast with Madison Pettis, Piper Curda, Natasha Behnam and Lizzie Broadway, who represents the obligatory Stifler in the franchise, shared some nice camaraderie with one another even when the material or comedy falls completely flat.<\/p>\n

American Pie Presents: Girls\u2019 Rules<\/em><\/strong> was directed by Mike Elliott who previously has been known for producing several direct-to-video sequels (Turbulence 2: Fear of Flying<\/em>, Kindergarten Cop 2<\/em>, Honey: Rise Up and Dance<\/em>, The Scorpion King: Book of Souls<\/em> and more recently, Bulletproof 2<\/em>) as well as several of Rob Zombie\u2019s movies and a producing career dating back to 1989. The script was written by Blayne Weaver (Honey 2<\/em>) and David H. Steinberg (story writer of American Pie 2<\/em>, Kindergarten Cop 2<\/em>).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment releases the film presented with an anamorphic widescreen 1.78 aspect ratio and although it is standard def, still looks pretty good, showing off some of the cheap sets and is bright in keeping with the light-hearted, if not raunchy, nature of this comedy.<\/p>\n

The disc comes with a basic but really underwhelming Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Dialogue comes across okay enough but everything else is really bland if not a bit too quiet, even the soundtrack which usually gets a boost to the rear speakers is really soft as well.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
