PLOT SYNOPSIS<\/span><\/h3>\n

Rachel and the Stranger<\/em><\/strong> depicts the untamed frontier of the 1820s telling the story of Big Davey Harvey (WILLIAM HOLDEN), a stoic backwoodsman who \u201cbuys\u201d and marries a bondswoman, Rachel (LORETTA YOUNG), to care for and educate his motherless son (GARY GRAY). Neither the father nor son find much to appreciate in Rachel until Jim Fairways (ROBERT MITCHUM), a guitar-strumming hunter, shows a romantic interest in her. Violent jealousy erupts between the two men, settled only after a spectacular raid on the Harveys\u2019 homestead by unmerciful Shawnee Indians. Rachel and the Stranger<\/em><\/strong> debuts on Blu-ray through the Warner Archive Collection and this is a new 1080p high-definition transfer. At this juncture, it\u2019s no surprise the picture looks great, detail is incredibly sharp, the black and white images is stunning and the natural film grain is still evident. The video here is also clean with perhaps a couple minor specs in an otherwise pristine transfer.<\/p>\n

The movie comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track. This also was rather impressive, no major instances of pops or hisses which probably has been cleaned up and outputting some clear dialogue and minor ambient noises come across quite nicely.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
