Under his supervision in their home at Titans Tower, Rachel Roth/Raven (TEAGAN CROFT), Gar Logan/Beast Boy (RYAN POTTER) and Jason Todd/Robin (CURRAN WALTERS) train together to hone their abilities and teamwork skills. They’re joined by Hank Hall/Hawk (ALAN RITCHSON), Dawn Granger/Dove (MINKA KELLY) and Donna Troy/Wonder Girl (CONOR LESLIE) who have attempted to transition into regular lives. But when old enemies resurface, everyone must come together to take care of unfinished business.

As this family of old and new Titans – including Conner Kent/Superboy (JOSHUA ORPIN) and Rose Wilson/Ravager (CHELSEA ZHANG) – learns to coexist, the arrival of Slade Wilson/Deathstroke (ESAI MORALES) brings to light the sins of the past, threatening to tear apart the Titans family once more.

Quick Hit Review: For those missing the dark and gritty DC, look no further than the Titans show streaming on the DC Universe service. But seriously, while I didn’t find the first season to be great, especially getting used to a Dick Grayson gone full rogue, the season still had its moments and a nice selection of actors, probably the best being the young Teagan Croft stood out the most, and the relationship that developed between her Rachael Roth (Raven) and Dick Grayson was quite good.

For season two, it marked the culmination and battle with Trigon a.k.a. Raven’s demonic father whom she, stupidly, allows to cross over to the Titans’ world and he rather easily seduces the Titans to their darkest sides… only to be thwarted pretty quickly in a storyline that could’ve done with a third part; kind of felt like the Doomsday fight on Smallville, though similarly probably had to do with a limited budget given the necessary CGI.

In any case, why I really enjoyed season two was the big bad was none other than the Titans’ ultimate arch nemesis, Deathstroke, a personal favorite DC villain of mine, as portrayed by Esai Morales who did a rather good job, probably a good step up from Manu Bennett on Arrow. He might not have gotten as much development in comparison, and he is a colder version by comparison, really wish to have seen more from him. Alas… Who knows, comic books resurrect characters all the time, so who knows.

The additional new cast members, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Slade’s daughter, was a nice addition and a few others from the first season get expanded roles, most notably Curran Walters’s as the impulsive Jason Todd/Robin as well as Alan Ritchson playing Hawk and Minka Kelly portraying his better half, Dove. Now on the other hand, as great of an actor that Iain Glen is, I really wasn’t buying into him as an older Bruce Wayne.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 2.0/5

This release comes with a matted slip cover, inside is a redemption code for the Digital HD copy.

There’s only Jason Todd: Fate by the Fans (11:52) featurette, a profile on the cocky character and his history in the comics, dating back to the fans narrowly choosing to kill him off (though there was shenanigans with automated voting).

VIDEO – 4.0/5

Although darkly lit for a fair portion in some episodes, the first one especially, Titans season two’s 1080p high-definition transfer is half-decent; detail is relatively sharp and nicely defined, especially on the close-ups, and there are spots of color that manage to come through, such as the green in Gar’s hair.
