Penelope (NATALIE WOOD) marries James Elcott (IAN BANNEN) after a very brief courtship, and as his star rises in the banking business, he spends less and less time with her. Penelope devises what she thinks is a good plan to get James’ attention: disguising herself as an old lady and robbing his newly opening bank. Unfortunately, the robbery is successful, and now Penelope has bigger problems on her hands. Investigating the robbery is Lt. This picture looks pretty dang fantastic with bright, vivid colors in keeping with the more light-hearted and comedic nature of the film as well as for the 1960s time period. Detail is sharp and very nicely defined and it appears the natural film grain and noise has been retained, no obvious tampering using some clean-up tools used.

The disc includes a standard (for Warner Archive releases) DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track and I found this to be a serviceable enough, dialogue does come through with good clarity with some minor hissing in a few spots, but hardly anything distracting and it is fairly low levels of it. Otherwise, a perfectly fine lossless track.

OVERALL

Penelope is a 1960s-era comedy featuring the lovely Natalie Wood comedy marking its debut on Blu-ray through the Warner Archive Collection which features great video and respectable audio.

Penelope is a 1960s-era comedy featuring the lovely Natalie Wood comedy marking its debut on Blu-ray through the Warner Archive Collection, available now.

[3,970
1592,2887
post-22861","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blurayreviews","category-quick-hit-reviews","tag-natalie-wood","tag-warner-archive
["GET
