It\u2019s not the best looking video transfer but given this is a budget title and probably little work was put into the transfer, it\u2019s not too bad but there are dust and scratches present throughout.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 2.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio track isn\u2019t great with all of the audio coming from the center channel so obviously everything sounds muffled including the effects. It probably doesn\u2019t help that this wasn\u2019t a highly budgeted film.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 2.25\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, <strong><em>The Crow: City of Angels<\/em><\/strong> is a bad sequel but one notorious for following up to an original whose star had fallen. It\u2019s a cheap film with, at best, average visual effects (for its time) and a bad story and even perhaps worse acting. But when the top enforcer (CHRISTIAN BALE) misses a dose of an emotional-blocking drug, he begins to realize that things are not as they seem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a name=\"features\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 0.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Although the DVD version has two commentary tracks, for whatever reason we only get <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Finding Equilibrium (4:26; SD)<\/span><\/strong> featurette.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a name=\"video\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 3\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Equilibrium<\/em><\/strong> is presented in 1080p high definition and looks surprisingly good on Blu-ray. Although this is a darker film, colors are still well balanced while the black levels are nice without being overly crushed. Now, the reason for only a 3.5\/5 rating is because this was originally released with a 2.35 aspect ratio and Echo Bridge has instead opened up the matting for a 1.78 AR. That\u2019s a big difference in picture and even though you\u2019re not losing anything, you are gaining elements that the director did not intend.<br \/> <a name=\"audio\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 2\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio is alright and maybe acceptable but it\u2019s also very flat from beginning to end which is a shame since there are plenty of action scenes that would\u2019ve sounded great with a proper 5.1 channel transfer. Instead most of the audio comes through the center channel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><br \/> <a name=\"overall\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 1.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, <strong><em>Equilibrium<\/em><\/strong> is a great film that deserved a better released on Blu-ray so I wish Miramax handled this release instead of passing it on to Echo Bridge. That being said, it\u2019s not a bad transfer just unremarkable. Colors though do look well balanced without going to the extremes. I did notice some dust and scratch marks here and there but it\u2019s not overly abundant.<br \/> <a name=\"audio\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 3.5\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track isn\u2019t bad but because it\u2019s relegated to two channels, various audio elements do top out a few times. Dialogue though is very crisp and clear while everything else gets modest treatment elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><br \/> <a name=\"overall\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>OVERALL \u2013 2\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers<\/em><\/strong> is just another pointless\/useless horror sequel made to grab as much money from the diehard fans while coming up with a nonsensical story that would only be rectified with <em>Halloween H20<\/em> but then further dismantled in <em>Halloween Resurrection<\/em>. Like the others, it\u2019s not a bad transfer but given most of it takes place in the dark, you do notice some pixilation at times. Both films are presented in 1080p HD with 1.78 aspect ratios (OAR for <em>Duplex<\/em> and <em>MBD <\/em>is 1.85). Like with the others, the picture isn\u2019t entirely sharp and has more of a dull look to it, but otherwise is probably a modest upgrade over their DVD counterparts; though modest gets downgraded to minor if you care about features.<br \/> <a name=\"audio\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>AUDIO \u2013 3\/5<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Both films come with DTS-HD MA 2.0 tracks which are, to say the least, low key. The picture for both films isn\u2019t bad but like the others I\u2019ve reviewed here, it doesn\u2019t have the depth in comparison with other Blu-ray releases. The audio is centrally located and can top out at times.
