Ultraman, a giant alien from the Land of Light in Nebula M78, enters Earth’s atmosphere in pursuit of an escaped space monster. In the skies above Japan he accidentally crashes into a Jet VTOL piloted by Hayata (SUSUMU KUROBE), a member of the Science Special Search Party (SSSP), an international research and defense agency that protects the world from monsters and aliens of all shapes and sizes. To save Hayata, Ultraman merges his life force with the dying human and vows to stay and fight for peace on Earth. Now, whenever the Patrol faces a threat too great for them to handle, Hayata transforms into Ultraman to save the day!<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This six-disc set comes housed in an extra-wide HD keep case which side-slides into a sturdy slip case. There is a code for the Digital Copy<\/strong> (redeemable only on movieSpree). There is also a booklet<\/strong> included with trivia and an episode guide. No features were included, unfortunately.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Ultraman<\/em><\/strong> (Series 2) comes to save the day on Blu-ray, shown in its originally televised 1.33 full frame aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. This season is in full-blown color which did come across with good vibrancy while detail, especially on close-ups, was sharp and nicely defined. There were some minor specs but the transfer itself was more than respectable.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Each episode comes with a Japanese language DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo track which does produce clear dialogue levels and a bit of depth during the more action-centric scenes. Overall, Ultraman<\/em><\/strong>, which is the Series 2 of the franchise, is another fun season with for sure some outlandish story elements but a cool mash-up of the likes of X-Files<\/em>, Twin Speaks<\/em> and The Twilight Zone<\/em> and anyone interested in Japanese media, especially from that era, will probably get a blast out of this. The Blu-ray itself has respectable video and audio transfers, just a shame there were a few commentaries or featurettes with experts comments on the show.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
