Her mental stability begins to unravel first with her ex-husband (LUKE EVANS) filing paperwork to get full custody of their son, then her never dealt with the loss, but also starts to stalk the family with each act growing increasingly dangerous.

Quick Hit Review: Angel of Mine is a movie I have some confliction about. First and foremost, the performances from everyone all around were quite good, even great on the parts of Noomi Rapace and Yvonne Strahovski. And the first two thirds of the film was a top-notch, intense and brilliant character-driven psychological suspense-thriller and the scenes between Rapace and Strahovski were anxiety-rising levels of tension.

However, for all that did work, my biggest issue was the ending. Whereas the bulk of the movie had a certain amount of realism, especially in regards to a woman struggling with heavy bouts of depression and her world crumbling around her. The problem is at the end, when the twist is revealed, not only was exposition was handled in a clumsy manner, but the situation felt pretty implausible; felt straight out of a Lifetime TV movie. And yes, I understand the film based upon a 2008 French film, L’empreinte de l’ange or Mark of an Angel…

As I said, Angel of Mine is a movie I do have mixed feelings on and in the end, I do believe the good outweighs the bad. Noomi Rapace’s performance alone is worth the price of admission (or cost of the rental) and paired up with the immensely talented Yvonne Strahovski, better known on The Handmaid’s Tale and Chuck, the two are a powerhouse, even in the aforementioned scene at the end, nothing wrong with there, just the writing was a letdown.

In the end, I would say even with its flaws, primarily the finale (including a rather quick conclusion), this is still worth a rental if only for Rapace and Stahovski’s performances.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 2.5/5

This release comes with a glossy, title-embossed slip cover and redemption code for the Digital HD copy.

Making Angel of Mine (9:38) is your typical behind-the-scenes featurette containing interview sound bites with the cast and crew.

Cast/Crew Interviews (30:06):

Director Kim Farrant (10:45)

Noomi Rapace (4:21)

Yvonne Strahovski (4:35)

Luke Evans (3:24)

Richard Roxburgh (3:48)

Annika Whiteley (2:40)

Theatrical Trailer (2:32)

VIDEO – 3.725/5

Lionsgate releases Angel of Mine onto Blu-ray where it’s shown with a 1080p high-definition transfer and a 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio.
