Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Diagnosed with a fatal condition, Frankie Carver (NICOLAS CAGE) is released from prison after serving 19 years of hard time. With only a short time left to live, Frankie must desperately try to make amends with the son (NOAH LE GROS) he left behind, while he plots a bloody course of revenge \u2013 tracking down his old gang to make them pay one by one.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: A Score to Settle<\/em><\/strong>, for the first two thirds anyway, featured a rather contained Nicolas Cage performance, but when he has to show any sort of deep emotion be it either sadness or anger, that\u2019s when we get an off-kilter Cage, which is both funny but takes away from any of the dramatic elements. Beyond Cage, though, this film is well shot I suppose but the pacing was a drag and it would seem young filmmaker Shawn Ku, though shows some minor talent, has some ways to go, but the fact he did pull out a semi-respectable performance from Cage is on the impressive side.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

RLJ Entertainment has A Score to Settle<\/em><\/strong> on Blu-ray presented with a 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture isn\u2019t especially bright in keeping with the film\u2019s more dramatic tone, detail still was sharp and well defined throughout and black levels were fairly stark.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc comes with a standard but effective enough DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. Dialogue does come through with good clarity via the center channel and the few action-centric sequences do provide some okay depth, however it\u2019s nothing especially noteworthy.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, A Score to Settle<\/em><\/strong> is an uneven revenge-drama but through the first two-thirds, Nic Cage seemed to be under control, but by the final third, when emotions are high, we get the Cage we know and generally mock. But the lackluster film isn\u2019t all Cage\u2019s fault as the pacing did drag. Still, it\u2019s worth a rental.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
