Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>Amiable enough romantic-comedy with a political angle, Long Shot<\/em><\/strong> excels thanks to both Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron\u2019s energetic and innocent personalities and despite a clash of… let\u2019s just say attractiveness, the two share wonderful chemistry. Story isn\u2019t always the strongest and it does have a little nativity when it comes to the world of politics, but still a movie that\u2019s worth checking out, particularly if you\u2019re a fan of either Rogen or Theron. Also helps to have a respectable supporting cast that includes O\u2019Shea Jackson, Andy Serkis and Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd.<\/p>\n

Long Shot<\/em><\/strong> was directed by Jonathan Levine, who was behind the wonderful zombie-romance Warm Bodies<\/em> and the funny fantasy-comedy The Night Before<\/em>, with a script by Dan Sterling (The Interview<\/em>) and Liz Hannah (The Post<\/em>) from a story by Sterling.<\/p>\n

Seven Minutes in Heaven: Seth & Charlize Uncensored (6:55)<\/u><\/strong> has the two stars answering a variety of questions about the project and working together.<\/p>\n

Secret Weapons (15:53)<\/u><\/strong> breaks down the great supporting cast of characters.<\/p>\n

Epic Flarsky Falls (6:12)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Looks at the stuntwork done for Rogen\u2019s various falls featured in the film.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Steward O-Rama (4:55)<\/u><\/strong> is a featurette on Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd who portrays the Canadian PM.<\/p>\n

Hanging with Boyz II Men (5:49)<\/u><\/strong> is just some behind-the-scenes footage with the legendary R&B group.<\/p>\n

Just Kinda Crushing It (4:13)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Not sure what this is, just some fly-on-the-wall footage.<\/p>\n

The First Mister: A Portrait (7:15)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This is a featurette on making a portrait for Fred Fields<\/p>\n

An Imperfect Union (7:28)<\/u><\/strong> is on the team-up between Theron and Rogen.<\/p>\n

Love & Politics (5:15)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 On the integration of romance with politics.<\/p>\n

Friends Like These (3:56)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 A short featurette on the antoginists of the film.<\/p>\n

Although there\u2019s 97-minutes worth of featurettes, it\u2019s kind of disjointed and not much information that is gleaned other than everyone has had a great time working together.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Long Shot<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray presented in its original 2.39 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. As with most modern movies, this looks great in HD, detail is incredibly sharp and colors are bright and vibrant and there were no signs of artifacts, aliasing, banding or other flaws.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc comes with what I consider a bit of a strong Dolby Atmos track, strange for a romance-drama-comedy, but still effective and coming to life for the soundtrack which has an extra kick thanks to the LFE channel while dialogue comes through the center channel with great clarity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Long Shot<\/em><\/strong> is a decent enough romantic-comedy that doesn\u2019t exactly break new ground and doesn\u2019t stretch Seth Rogen\u2019s acting abilities playing pretty much the same type of character as he has in the past, while Charlize Theron is as graceful as always. The Blu-ray release has great video\/audio transfers and the featurettes were okay.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
