Manson Family Movies<\/em><\/strong> is a painstaking recreation of the daily lives of the members of Manson\u2019s cult, from the banal to the brutal. Filmed on the actual locations where the family lived and killed, filmmaker John Aes-Nihil blends dramatic footage with real recordings of the Manson family singing and performing music to chilling, gritty effect and audacious authenticity.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This two-disc set comes housed in a standard DVD case with a matted slip cover<\/strong>. There is a fair amount of bonus features including an Audio Commentary<\/u><\/strong> with writer-director John Aes-Nihil; some Outtakes (14:20)<\/u><\/strong> with commentary; a bizarre Interview (30:54)<\/u><\/strong> with Charles Manson conducted by Bill Scanlan Murphy in 1994 from the Corchan Prison; and LAPD Photos (1:26)<\/u><\/strong>, gallery of crime scene photos.<\/p>\n

There is also a bonus disc exclusive to this Limited Edition release: the Sharon Tate Home Movies (59:03)<\/u><\/strong>, another dramatic recreation, though no music and not quite as disturbing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Cult Epics releases Manson Family Videos<\/em><\/strong> onto DVD where the film is shown in its original 1.33 full frame presentation and given these are supposed to be home videos from the 1970s, it looks like it, which means there\u2019s a ton of film damage with scratches, dirt and specs everywhere and colors are muted. It\u2019s difficult to give this a fair rating as this was not supposed to look pristine anyway.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the included Dolby Digital 2.0 track is fine, outputting the creepy Manson Family songs through the entire 88-minute running time with a few pops and hissing cropping up throughout.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
