Sparks immediately fly between these two strangers, who might never have met had fate not given them a little push. The plot itself was engaging and I did at least find their characters to be likeable.

Although the studio did give it a fairly wide release, it still only managed a paltry $2.5 million and $4.95 million total, still losing money even with a reasonable $9 million budget (though they also probably put a good amount into the marketing as I remember seeing a trailer at the theater and some TV spots). Kind of a shame as there is some charm to the film, though perhaps this would’ve been better served as a mini-series as, from what I read, there were some side-stories either cut down or removed entirely.

The Sun is Also a Star, despites having two actors who don’t always have the best chemistry, is still worth a rental, particularly for the romantics out there.

SPECIAL FEATURES – 1.0/5

The only feature is Love is a Universe featurette.
