Plot Synopsis: Critters Attack<\/em><\/strong> follows 20-year-old Drea (TASHIANA WASHINGTON), who reluctantly takes a job babysitting for a professor of a college she hopes to attend. Struggling to entertain the professor\u2019s children Trissy (AVA PRESTON) and Jake (JACK FULTON), along with her own little brother Phillip (JAEDEN NOWL), Drea takes them on a hike, unaware that mysterious alien critters have crash-landed and started devouring every living thing they encounter.<\/p>\n

While being tracked by the ravenous critters, Drea and the kids encounter an adorable, seemingly harmless female critter named Bianca, an exiled royal fleeing the critter race. As the critters converge on the college campus, Drea and the kids, who are now inextricably linked to Bianca, rush to head them off. Will Drea discover her inner badass, and will it be enough to stop the critter onslaught? And is the critter princess as innocent as she seems? On the Critters\u2019 trail is Helen Brown (DEE WALLACE) who has experience with these vicious creatures.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>The first two Critters<\/em> movies, released in 1986 and 1988 respectively, were cheesy and fun horror flicks while the third and fourth were rather awful, the only interesting aspect was seeing\u00a0 a young Leonardo DiCaprio in the third film. Now 27 years later we get Critters Attack<\/em><\/strong>, a movie that originally aired on the SyFy network and now released for the masses and frankly, this fifth entry, which more or less a sequel to the first seeing the return of Dee Wallace, was pretty awful, but worse yet, I found it rather boring and dull. I actually found my eyelids getting heavy in spite of what was a short running time.<\/p>\n

Considering I\u2019m not a big Critters<\/em> fan, to the point I only saw the first four films last year, Critters Attack<\/em><\/strong>, which was directed by Bobby Miller (feature film debut) from a script by Scott Lobdell (Happy Death Day<\/em>), perhaps had potential but instead we get a film long in the making but falls flat at every turn. I guess if I had one positive thing to say, the Critters were at least practically done instead of the easy way using CGI, otherwise just skip.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Critter Ball (1:55)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Short featurette on the giant critter ball.<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. unleashes the Critters onto Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio as originally televised on SyFy and is shown with a 1080p high-definition transfer. This looks pretty much on par with a made-for-TV movie where it\u2019s not exactly an interesting looking movie but detail at least is sharp enough and fairly brightly colorful.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc includes a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is pretty strong showcasing the Critters bloody attacks making good use of the front and rear speakers along with the crisp and clear dialogue coming via the center channel. Nothing spectacular but effective enough.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
