Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control &#8212; all of which get put to the test when she meets Will (COLE SPROUSE), an impossibly charming teen who has the same illness. There&#8217;s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/oDRrjgJ.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Five Feet Apart\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/oDRrjgJ.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Review: <\/strong>It seems every year there are one or two tear-jerker romance-dramas and the one so far for 2019 is <strong><em>Five Feet Apart<\/em><\/strong> a movie that surprisingly enough wasn\u2019t based on a novel, though follows the formula which, at its basics, is one or two sick characters meet, fall in love and one dies in the end. The only variable is what disease are they inflicted with.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Going in, I should say\u00a0 I generally skip these types of movies but decided to sit down to watch <strong><em>Five Feet Apart<\/em><\/strong>, mostly because I am a fan of Haley Lu Richardson and my interests to pique when I see she\u2019s in the lead role (vs. playing the best friend as she had in <em>Edge of Seventeen<\/em> and <em>Split<\/em>). As such, the acting from both Richardson and Cole Sprouse, another on-the-rise young actor, playing the lead on <em>Riverdale<\/em>, were both above par and really make the movie tolerable, even when the formula doesn\u2019t break new ground.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Five Feet Apart<\/em><\/strong>, written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis (the writing duo behind <em>The Curse of La Llorona<\/em>) and directed by Justin Baldoni marking his feature film directorial debut and although his career has mostly consisted on the acting realm, primarily on <em>Jane the Virgin<\/em>, does an adequate job.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/QnKEJlC.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Five Feet Apart\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/QnKEJlC.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even though I\u2019d hardly call this great and it doesn\u2019t veer far from others in the tear-jerker teen drama-romance like <em>The Fault in Our Stars<\/em> or *insert Nicholas Sparks adaptation*, the performances from the two young leads does make it tolerable, even watchable, though this at times it\u2019s the height of sap.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 3.75\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td id=\"review-content2\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This release comes with a glossy <strong>slip cover<\/strong> and inside a redemption code for the <strong>Digital HD<\/strong> copy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Audio Commentary<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Director Justin Baldoni guides the audience through the process of making the movie, praising the cast and other little bits of information. Nothing I\u2019d consider all that engaging, but still nice to get a breakdown of even the rom-drama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Crossing it Off: Making <em>Five Feet Apart<\/em> (14:15)<\/u><\/strong> is a behind-the-scenes featurette with interviews by members of the cast and crew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>On Set of <em>Five Feet Apart<\/em> (6:29)<\/u><\/strong> is a fly-on-the-wall footage from the set.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Attention to Detail (5:55)<\/u><\/strong> outlines how the filmmakers tried to keep the disease, cystic fibrosis, as realistic as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>An Artist\u2019s Eye (6:01)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This featurette is on the artwork drawn by the Will character and what it means for him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Theatrical Fan Event (18:52)<\/u><\/strong> is an exclusive featurette that, I believe, played before or after some screenings. I think.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Deleted Scenes (8:05)<\/u><\/strong> and <strong><u>Alternate Ending (1:59)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 These scenes either didn\u2019t make the cut or deleted completely.
