Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Power up with six incredible teens \u2014 Yellow Ranger Aisha (KARAN ASHLEY), Black Ranger Adam (JOHNNY YONG BOSCH), Red Ranger Rocky (STEVE CARDENAS), White Ranger Tommy (JASON DAVID FRANK), Pink Ranger Kimberly (AMY JO JOHNSON) and Blue Ranger Billy (DAVID YOST) \u2014 who out-maneuver and defeat evil everywhere as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. But this time, the Power Rangers may have met their match when they face off with the most sinister monster the galaxy has ever seen: Ivan Ooze (PAUL FREEMAN).<\/p>\n

Unleashed upon the good citizens of Angel Grove after six thousand years of imprisonment, Ivan Ooze strips the Power Rangers of their powers. Now they must journey to a distant planet to learn the secrets of the ancient Ninjetti. Only then will they become empowered with strength enough to restore their Morphin ability and defeat the evil Ivan Ooze.<\/p>\n

Review: <\/strong>I never was that big of a fan of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers<\/em> television series but it certainly had its charms despite, or perhaps because of, some of the more bad elements. With the show\u2019s popularity, Saban Entertainment brought these super powered teenagers to the big screen. I had previously seen Mighty Morphin Power Ranges: The Movie<\/em><\/strong> probably somewhere in the early 2000s and let\u2019s just say left unimpressed and even kind of immensely disliking it. This latest viewing, my opinion really hasn\u2019t changed and pretty much remembering why I\u2019ve avoided watching it over the years.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This release comes with a matted slip cover<\/strong>. Not a huge selection but along with the previously released Making-of Featurette (4:30)<\/u><\/strong> as well as the Theatrical Trailer (2:13)<\/u><\/strong> that were on the DVD release, this also comes with The Mighty Leap to the Silver Screen (44:04)<\/u><\/strong> containing new interviews with Director Bryan Spicer and Actors Johnny Yong Bosch (Black Ranger), Jason David Frank (White Ranger), Karan Ashley (Yellow Ranger), David Yost (Blue Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Red Ranger), Paul Freeman (Ivan Ooze), Jason Narvy (Skull) and others.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Shout Factory releases Might Morphin Power Rangers<\/em><\/strong> where it\u2019s shown in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and given a 1080p high-definition transfer. Given there\u2019s no mention on the back cover, it doesn\u2019t appear this was some sort of new scan so likely this was given to Shout by Fox. Even so, this was not at all a bad looking picture, detail is sharp throughout and considering the light-hearted and kid-centric nature, colors were generally bright including the Rangers\u2019 outfits, the reds and yellows especially standing out.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The movie comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track which I found surprisingly strong. Along with outputting crisp and clear dialogue via the center channel, but where this lossless track comes to life is through the various action sequences with an extra depth thanks to the LFE which rumbles to life during the fights.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers<\/em><\/strong> probably was in line with the television series with a bigger budget and I suppose if you\u2019re a fan of that style of adventure and comedy, this might be worth watching, though it does look and, based in terms of the soundtrack, incredibly dated. This new Blu-ray release offers up really good video\/audio transfers and a nice retrospective featurette.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
