Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>Sarah (SEANA KERSLAKE) and her young son Chris (JAMES QUINN MARKEY) move to a new home in the Irish\u00a0 countryside. One night, Chris vanishes; when he reappears, he seems unharmed and unchanged. But as Chris\u2019s behavior grows increasingly disturbing, Sarah fears the boy who has returned may not be her son.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>If one were to read the synopsis or just look at the cover, The Hole in the Ground<\/em><\/strong> looks and sounds familiar and you wouldn\u2019t be wrong. This is yet another killer kids horror movie, this one coming out of Ireland. But even though I have seen similar movies in the past, like Children of the Corn<\/em> and The Good Son<\/em>, I found this incarnation to be rather well done, even if there are few explanations on what exactly is happening.<\/p>\n

It does, however, tackle issues rarely pursued, especially in horror, concerning mental health, as we see Seana Kerslake\u2019s character and her mental decent as she begins to realize (or perhaps just believes?) her son is an imposter. Kerslake in particular gives a great performance, never going over-the-top and making her emotions feel real even when the film goes down a fantastical route. James Quinn Markey, making his feature film debut, was decent enough, but like clowns, it\u2019s really not hard to make a kid utterly creepy and scary\u2026<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
