Plot Synopsis: <\/strong>When John Gold (STU BENNETT), an ex-Special Forces soldier turned mercenary, learns of the murder of his best friend, Dan (KEVIN LESLIE) \u2014 and Dan\u2019s parents \u2014 he heads to their hometown, seeking justice. Gold soon discovers Dan and his father were murdered while investigating a Special Forces unit led by an enigmatic, highly decorated soldier named Hatcher (GARY DANIELS) who went rogue in Afghanistan. Gold\u2019s vengeance is unleashed, as he sets out to take down the killers.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>The premise is basic and frankly in some form has been done countless times before, especially back in the 1980s. I Am Vengeance<\/em><\/strong> at its core really isn\u2019t very good. Most of the acting is subpar, not helped by some stilted and terrible dialogue. And yet, the fight sequences are decently choreographed and I did generally liked Stu Bennett, whose background is with the WWE, in the lead and had at least an ounce of charisma, more than I can say for the rest of the cast, Gary Daniels included.<\/p>\n

The film was written and directed by Ross Boyask who has helmed a few poorly received action movies and in fact is currently working on Vengeance 2<\/em> with, I guess, Vinnie Jones as the villain. I don\u2019t think he\u2019s a great filmmaker but at least has the kernel of an old school idea that was at least passably entertaining.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

I Am Vengeance<\/em><\/strong> takes aim onto Blu-ray presented with a 2.00 widescreen aspect ratio and given a nice looking 1080p high-definition transfer. Detail appears sharp and colors are generally bright. Nothing extraordinary of course but pleasant looking nevertheless.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc comes with a robust DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track that really picks up during the action\/fight scenes while dialogue came through with good clarity, although it was concerning early on whenever there was dialogue, there was a light hiss noticeable; outside of that, though, sounds good.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, I Am Vengeance<\/em><\/strong> doesn\u2019t break any new ground in the revenge subgenre but even for all of its weaknesses with bad dialogue and subpar acting, I did find it mildly entertaining, if not also forgettable.
