But before the mission is complete, they\u2019ll traverse the globe and have to choose between everything they love and everything they believe in.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/2QQoz.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Mission: Impossible II\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/2QQoz.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>I\u2019m not entirely sure why the producers, which includes Tom Cruise, went this route with <strong><em>Mission: Impossible II<\/em><\/strong>, which has elements of <em>M:I<\/em> for sure, but the mish-mash of martial arts fighting style really did not mesh well. In fact, the final fight scene between Cruise\u2019s Ethan Hunt and Dougray Scott\u2019s Sean Ambrose was utterly ridiculous, but not in the entertaining sort of way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were parts, particularly early on, that I really enjoyed and when it most felt like, you know, an actual <em>Mission: Impossible<\/em> film with disguises, nifty gadgets, a gorgeous Hunt girl in Thandie Newton and you can never go wrong with Anthony Hopkins even in a small role as the new IMF chief. Same goes for Ving Rhames returning as Luther Strickell (while the other guy, John Polson, was rather bland for as zany the character was supposed to be).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/uN5tN.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Mission: Impossible II\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/uN5tN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As much as I do like John Woo as a filmmaker with his unique style, not to mention those mother f***ing doves, that style was not right for a <em>Mission: Impossible<\/em> film. The only upside was that the filmmakers did take time off and what we got was J.J. Abrams\u2019 <em>M:I-3<\/em>, easily a game-changer; impressive since the studio could\u2019ve just limped along since this movie made a ton of money (and adjusted for ticket inflation, ranks second domestically).<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>SPECIAL FEATURES \u2013 3.0\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td id=\"review-content2\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This release comes with a glossy <strong>slip cover<\/strong> and inside is a redemption code for the <strong>Digital HD<\/strong> copy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Commentary by Director John Woo<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Woo provides an interesting and expansive track offering up insights into style, story and his vision for this sequel. I do think having a partner in the booth would\u2019ve made for a more dynamic track, though.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Behind the Mission (14:28)<\/u><\/strong> is your typical making-of featurette where they go through how the sequel came about with interview sound bites with the cast and crew. Really, it\u2019s nothing special but you do get an idea about the process of filming the movie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Mission Incredible (5:12)<\/u><\/strong> tackles the John Woo trademarked action sequences and Cruise\u2019s eagerness to take it to the limit (sorry, had to).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><u>Impossible Shots (TRT 34:17)<\/u><\/strong> is a selection of 11 action sequences featured throughout the film and taking a look at how they were accomplished with comments by John Woo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally we get the <strong><u>Music Video (4:33)<\/u><\/strong> for \u201cI Disappear\u201d from Metallica, an <strong><u>Alternate Title Sequence (0:37)<\/u><\/strong> and the <strong>Excellence in Film<\/strong> and <strong>Generation: Cruise<\/strong> tribute footage.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"*\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moviemansguide.com\/images\/main\/bar_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"3\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/aSZvu.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border-screencapture aligncenter\" title=\"Mission: Impossible II\" src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/aSZvu.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<table id=\"review-content\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>VIDEO \u2013 5.0\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td id=\"review-content2\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Paramount once again impresses with <strong><em>Mission: Impossible II<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s 2160p high-definition presentation on 4K UHD. Although I wasn\u2019t wild about the film, there is no doubt director John Woo has that visual flair to his movies and this is no exception, colors are vivid and bright, gearing towards the warmer spectrum, while skin tones are natural looking.
