Season Synopsis: <\/strong>As season three opens, forensic scientist Barry Allen (GRANT GUSTIN), aka The Flash, is living his dream life. His parents (JOHN WESLEY SHIPP, MICHELLE HARRISON) are alive. He\u2019s dating beautiful, smart Iris West (CANDICE PATTON). And he\u2019s able to stand back and the new speedster in town, Kid Flash (KEIYNAN LONSDALE), steps in to protect Central City. But the better Barry\u2019s life gets, the more dangerous it becomes. His nemesis, Reverse Flash (MATT LETSCHER) warns Barry of serious repercussions if he remains in the alternate Flashpoint universe: In addition to memory loss, his powers will fade. When disaster strikes, Barry must decide whether to continue life as Barry Allen or return to his universe as The Flash. As Barry deals with his identity crisis, he and the S.T.A.R. Labs team fight off lethal threats from God of Speed, Savitar.<\/p>\n

Quick Hit Review: <\/strong>Well, The Flash is back and messing up timelines as he always seems to do in the comics, on this TV series and, apparently, in the proposed \u201cFlashpoint\u201d feature film. Of the 20 DC shows that seem to be on the air, I think The Flash<\/em> is my favorite of the bunch as it\u2019s got a good balance of light-heartedness as well as compelling drama to go along with a charming lead actor in Grant Gustin.<\/p>\n

The writing on the show also hasn\u2019t been too bad (compared to Arrow<\/em> at least) and while, from what I read, this season didn\u2019t handle the Flashpoint adaptation all that well, I did enjoy these stories and some interesting villains from making a cheesy character like Mirror Master actually work to the big baddie of Savitar, a true adversary for Team Flash, which IMO is better than Team Arrow. The season also sees a couple newcomers like Tom Felton playing a senior CSI technician and later becoming a member of Team Flash.<\/p>\n

So although this isn\u2019t the strongest season, the junior year of The Flash<\/em><\/strong> is still well done and above all, actually entertaining.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Allied: The Invasion Complex (9:49; HD)<\/u><\/strong> explores the story behind the crossover event, the one that began on The Flash<\/em> and is on Barry Allen\u2019s quest to bring the various super heroes together to fight a galactic menace that is bent on taking over the Earth. Hmm, sounds awfully similar to a certain movie coming out in November…<\/p>\n

The Flash<\/u><\/em><\/strong>: 2016 Comic-Con Panel (29:50; HD)<\/u><\/strong> finds most of the cast (Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Tom Felton, etc) and executive producers discuss the third season at the 2016 SDCC.<\/p>\n

A Flash in Time: Time Travel in the Flash<\/em> Universe (21:47; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 This featurette covers the story beats from the comic book inspiration, Flashpoint, and the implications of time travel left unbound.<\/p>\n

A Conversation with Andrew Kreisberg and Kevin Smith (3:55; HD)<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 Looks at Kevin Smith\u2019s approach to directing The Flash <\/em>and Supergirl<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Warner releases The Flash<\/em><\/strong> season three onto Blu-ray presented in its originally televised 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and 1080p high-definition transfer. The picture for the most part does look good where detail is sharp and well defined and more impressive, colors are bright and vibrant while black levels are decently stark.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track isn\u2019t anything amazing but effective with good dialogue levels throughout and offers some nice depth especially on display during the numerous action sequences where even the LFE channel kicks in to add an extra boost which isn\u2019t always the case with TV seasons on Blu-ray.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
