Robbing banks, holding up stagecoaches: That\u2019s the life Jake Wade (ROBERT TAYLOR) tried to leave behind when he put on a badge, found himself a pretty fianc\u00e9e (PATRICIA OWENS) and set his path on the straight and narrow. But not yet. Wade\u2019s outlaw partner (RICHARD WIDMARK) resurfaces to take the lawman and his girl captive, forcing them into a trek to recover the loot Wade buried long ago \u2013 and plunging captors and captives into the violent heart of Comanche territory.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Law and Jake Wade<\/em><\/strong> makes its debut on Blu-ray presented in its original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and a new 1080p high-definition transfer. Although I wasn\u2019t especially wowed by the picture as it\u2019s not particularly sharp in spots, the detail still isn\u2019t half bad and colors are bright and vibrant throughout and I don\u2019t recall seeing any obvious signs of dust, scratches, dirt or other flaws.<\/p>\n

The disc comes with a nice-sounding DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track which does provide for clear dialogue through that center channel and there is even some modest depth during certain scenes, specifically the shoot-out in the finale.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, The Law and Jake Wade<\/em><\/strong> is a very well made western-crime-thriller with strong performances from its leads, Robert Taylor and Richard Widmark, as directed by veteran John Sturges (Gunfight at the O.K. Corral<\/em>). The Blu-ray released through Warner\u2019s Archive Collection does offer solid video\/audio transfers, but only a trailer in the features department.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
