During a drunken spree in the small Wild West town of Bannock, one of a half-dozen workers from a nearby ranch accidentally shoots an innocent man. Bannock’s marshal, a righteous man named Jered Maddox (BURT LANCASTER), comes to the larger town of Sabbath bearing the dead body of one of the revelers and demands the surrender of the remaining five from sheriff Cotton Ryan (ROBERT RYAN) and ranch owner Vincent Bronson (LEE J. COBB), starting a confrontation that threatens to engulf them all.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Twilight Time releases Lawman<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray and is presented with a 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio. Other than some instances of minor dust marks and specs, this is a relatively clean looking picture. Detail is fairly sharp particularly on close-up shots while the more distant ones get less defined. Colors also look good with certain vibrancy even in the naturally toned western settings.<\/p>\n

The DTS-HD Master Audio Mono track is perfectly fine, though nothing I\u2019d call extraordinary. Dialogue levels do come through with clarity and during the required gunplay, and dual, shows off some slight depth.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Lawman<\/em><\/strong> is yet another western that really is undistinguishable with the others in the genre, but I did find it entertaining if only for the cast led by Burt Lancaster and Robert Ryan, as well as Robert Duvall in a smaller role. The Blu-ray released by Twilight Time offers good video and audio transfers but falters in the features department.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
