PLOT SYNOPSIS

Beautiful Midwestern college girls Angie (CONNIE FRANCIS), Melanie (YVETTE MIMIEUX), Tuggle (PAULA PRENTISS) and Merritt (DOLORES HART) take off to Florida for spring break. On their search for romance and adventure, Merritt falls for the charismatic Ryder Smith (GEORGE HAMILTON), while Tuggle becomes briefly involved with the somewhat dim TV Thompson (JIM HUTTON). Though the young women have plenty of good times, they find that the trip isn’t all fun and games.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Where the Boys Are<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray through Warner\u2019s Archive MOD program and is presented in its original 2.35 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. No surprise, as I\u2019m usually impressed with these Archive releases, as this includes bright, brilliant colors, natural skin tones and no obvious signs of aliasing, artifacts, compression issues or other flaws. Detail, be it background or close-ups, is relatively sharp throughout.<\/p>\n

The DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track provides good dialogue levels and even the music comes through the center channel with nice clarity. This isn\u2019t going to give your sound system a workout of course but being this is a 57 year old film, I wasn\u2019t expecting anything especially dynamic.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Where the Boys Are<\/em><\/strong>, on the surface looks like another 1960s-era beach party films but is a excellent coming-of-age drama\/comedy and features some wonderful and even heartfelt performances from Dolores Hart, George Hamilton and Paula Prentiss. This is the latest entry into Warner\u2019s Archive Collection and offers good video\/audio transfers and an okay selection of bonus features.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
