PLOT SYNOPSIS

The suicide of his expatriate uncle (JOHN GIELGUD) draws Englishman and poet Dennis Barlow (Robert Morse) into California’s booming funeral industry. Dennis falls for spiritual funeral home stylist Aimee (ANJANETTE COMER), whose boss, Mr. Joyboy (ROD STEIGER), also has designs on her. Meanwhile, he’s drawn into a crooked scheme by the cemetery’s owner, Henry Glenworthy (JONATHAN WINTERS), to shoot corpses into space and build a retirement home on the cemetery land.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Love One<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray presented with a 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and given a nice looking 1080p high-definition transfer. This black and white feature showcases stark darks yet still crisp whites with some film grain that does give a natural appearance. There were no noticeable instances of dust marks or scratches making for a mostly clean transfer.<\/p>\n

The movie comes with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track which is serviceable enough especially since this is mostly dialogue driven, though music does come through the center channel well enough. It\u2019s not entirely robust and could be a bit richer, but still a solid lossless track.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This Blu-ray released through Warner\u2019s Archive Collection includes good video\/audio transfers but limited in the features department.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
