THE SERIES \u2014 4.0\/5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

As with The Next Generation<\/em>, Star Trek: Voyager<\/em><\/strong> lasted an impressive seven seasons and while in many ways, casting primarily, I prefer TNG<\/em>, Voyager<\/em><\/strong> was an incredibly entertaining series that, strangely enough, really had an intimate vibe with a starship and its passengers on a journey that took them 70,000 light-years from earth and would take them 75 years to get back home.<\/p>\n

Along with some interesting stories, this series did excel with a fun cast who shared great chemistry with one another as well as featuring the series\u2019 first female captain as portrayed by Kate Mulgrew while Robert Beltran served as a fascinating second-in-command, the pair showing a different dynamic compared to that of Stewart\u2019s Picard and Frakes\u2019s Riker. Add in the underrated Robert Picardo providing some comic relief, but gets to stretch his dramatic acting chops here and there and the beautiful Jeri Ryan who joined the series in its fourth season playing a former borg drone.<\/p>\n

Star Trek: Voyager<\/em><\/strong> is a fun series that might not surpass The Next Generation<\/em> in terms of story or quality, but it\u2019s still entertaining and a fantastic performance by Kate Mulgrew who holds her own amongst the best in the storied franchise.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

This 47-disc complete series comes housed in three cases, seasons 1-3 and 4-6 are in massive extra-wide DVD cases (the kind Paramount has used for their latest series\u2019 sets) and season 7 is contained in a slightly thinner case. While it is nice to get these sets at a discount rate, admittedly this one can get unwieldy at times and getting the discs out is a bit of a hassle.<\/p>\n

Due to time and, in terms of this review, I\u2019m going to do a quick rundown of the features included. A general overview of these has behind-the-scenes footage and old interviews with the cast and crew discussing the new frontier the series set. Also here is rare footage of the original casting of the captain.<\/p>\n

                Star Trek Voyager<\/em><\/strong> is presented with a 1.33 full frame aspect ratio as originally televised and while it\u2019s not terribly colorful, in fact it\u2019s a bit drab in spots, still looks good for a show going on 20+ years old. Each episode is accompanied with a Dolby Digital 5.1 track which are perfectly serviceable providing for clear dialogue levels and some so-so depth during the action-centric scenes making use of the rear channels.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

                Overall, Star Trek Voyager <\/em><\/strong>was a great show in the Trek<\/em> universe though probably doesn\u2019t get the same love as compared with the original series or The Next Generation<\/em>, but it was still an entertaining series featuring a solid cast. This Complete Series set include the same discs from the individual releases so clearly this isn\u2019t for fans who likely already own those. Included are great selection of bonus material and decent video\/audio transfers.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
