<\/a>Special Effects<\/em><\/strong> is a convoluted crime-thriller that is merely one of many from the era. I did enjoy watching Eric Bogosian as the villain (SPOILERS!) so at least on that front it\u2019s not a complete waste of time.<\/p>\n

Olive Films releases Special Effects<\/em><\/strong> onto Blu-ray presented in its original 1.85 widescreen aspect ratio and a 1080p high-definition transfer. This isn\u2019t anything special but detail at least is fairly sharp though colors aren\u2019t exactly bright and I did notice the occasional specs of dust.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The disc comes with a basic but effective DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track which provides for good dialogue levels throughout while the typical 1980s score\/soundtrack kicks on making use of the dual channels. Again, nothing great yet probably a so-so upgrade over its DVD counterpart.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Special Effects<\/em><\/strong> is a convoluted crime-thriller that is merely one of many from the era. I did enjoy watching Eric Bogosian as the villain (SPOILERS!) so at least on that front it\u2019s not a complete waste of time. As far as Olive Film\u2019s Blu-ray release is concerned, the video and audio transfers are adequate and at least there are features, even if it\u2019s only a commentary and trailer.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
