<\/a>Body Snatchers<\/em><\/strong> is a decent spiritual successor to the classic Invasion of the Body Snatcher<\/em> movies and while the production budget wasn\u2019t the best, I did enjoy this cast including a young Gabrielle Anwar of Burn Notice<\/em> fame.<\/p>\n

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Arthouse maverick Abel Ferrara trains his indie eye upon Jack Finney’s always relevant masterpiece of paranoia for this third go-round with the pod people in this 1990s’ take on The Invasion of The Body Snatchers<\/em>. Eschewing the previous installments focus on suburban commie conformity and new age urban thought blight, this time the military-industrial-bureaucratic complex is called into question.<\/p>\n

Set amidst the confines of a large military base, EPA inspector Steve Malone (TERRY KINNEY) looks for toxic materials with family in tow. Steve’s teenage daughter Marti (GABRIELLE ANWAR) strikes up a BFF-riendship with fellow alienated teen Jean (CHRISTINE ELISE), daughter of base’s hard-as-nails general (R. LEE ERMEY). When Jean becomes suddenly well-adjusted, Marti starts to suspect people on the base are being replaced, one by one. And her family is next…<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Body Snatchers<\/em><\/strong> comes to Blu-ray through Warner\u2019s MOD Archive line presented with an AVC encoded 1080p high-definition transfer and in its original 2.40 widescreen aspect ratio. It\u2019s not exactly the prettiest looking picture to begin with as colors are a tad muted but detail is fairly sharp and it appears to be clean, free of dust marks, scratches, artifacts and other flaws.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The movie comes with a vibrant and robust DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track providing for clean dialogue levels but where each channel comes to life is with the brilliant and almost hypnotic score (especially the main titles) by composer Joe Delia (Bad Lieutenant<\/em>). For a quasi-older title, I was impressed with this lossless track.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Overall, Body Snatchers<\/em><\/strong> is a decent spiritual successor to the classic Invasion of the Body Snatcher<\/em> movies and while the production budget wasn\u2019t the best, I did enjoy this cast including a young Gabrielle Anwar of Burn Notice<\/em> fame. The Blu-ray released by Warner\u2019s Archive Collection offers good-to-great video and audio transfers but is limited in terms of features.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
